Whatever reasons you have to get rid of them, it is still important to stay humane. Read on to know more about how to get rid of these pesky pests.
Eliminate access points
Raccoons have entered your house if you hear a loud thud in the attic and hear tiny footsteps and rumbling and tumbling and you don’t even have pets. The might have ripped a hole in your roof and now have started to inhabit your attic. This can cause serious damage. What you have to do is to find the points of entry of these creatures and cover it up. Identify their entry points by inspecting your house to find holes, broken vents or borrows. Once you have discovered these access points, you should close it off and seal it closed.
Make them feel unwelcomed
No one wants to go somewhere if they feel unwelcomed. Putting up a fence is a great way to control them. Other than that, you should remove their food sources. Protect your trash bins, make your feeders out of reach, and clean out debris of food in your yard. This way there will be no reason for the raccoons to come to your home. Another way is to repel them by spraying their nesting areas with homemade repellents like mixing alcohol with some cleaning liquid and vinegar or boiling some cayenne pepper with habanero chillis.
